The R/T is gated for 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, and using combined electric switches gives you positive up and down shifting since you are mechanically and eletrically shifting the transmission at the same time. Shifting into OD or 4th gear is as simple as switching power off to the shift solenoids when the shifter is in 3rd gear. Returning to 3rd is just turning power the back on. While this doesn't allow shifting from any forward gear to reverse it does have features many will use.

Another feature is the reverse lockout plate which swings out of the way when not needed, this is great to make sure there is no shifting into Neutral or Reverse when banging through the gears.

Mounting will be in the same method as the Rock-set back. Having the shifter mounted closer to you in reach while strapped into your seat. All the hardware and linkage to connect to your stock XJ shift cable, as well as a cover plate to cover the hole were the stock shifter was.
